PracticeBooks

Accounting software for practices

Every client's books, kept properly, in one place.

PracticeBooks is the working ledger for an accounting firm: journals that go through review, bank reconciliations that tie out, an asset register that depreciates itself, and reports your clients can read in their own portal.

What's inside

Nothing you'd expect from an accounting system is missing, and nothing that only gets in the way of a practice has been added.

01

One login, every company

Each client company has its own chart of accounts, financial year and settings. Switching between them takes a click, and staff only see the companies they've been given.

02

Journals that go through review

Entries start as drafts, get checked, then get posted. Posted journals are locked; every change before that is kept in the history with who made it and when.

03

Bank reconciliation that ties out

Import statements, match them line by line to the ledger, and carry a clean reconciled balance into the next month.

04

An asset register that depreciates itself

Straight-line or diminishing value, calculated per asset for the period and journalled for you, with a schedule ready for the year-end file.

05

Reports you can hand over

Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, trial balance and depreciation schedules, prepared from the posted ledger and exportable for working papers.

06

A portal for your clients

Clients sign in to see their own reports and nothing else. No more emailing PDFs back and forth.

How a month closes

The system is built around the rhythm of a practice, so the checklist, the reconciliation and the reports all point at the same period.

1

Record

Staff enter journals as drafts against the right company and period.

2

Reconcile

Bank statements are matched to the ledger until the balances agree.

3

Review

A senior checks the drafts and the month-end checklist, then posts.

4

Report

Reports are produced from the posted ledger and published to the client's portal.

Who it's for

PracticeBooks was built inside an accounting practice, for the way a practice actually works: many clients, several years open at once, and more than one pair of hands on the books.

Questions

The ones we get asked most. For anything else, write to us.

What is PracticeBooks?

Web-based accounting software for accounting practices. Your firm keeps each client's books in one secure system — journals, bank reconciliation, fixed assets and financial reports — and clients can log in to a portal to view their reports.

Do I need to install anything?

No. It runs in the browser on any computer, tablet or phone. Your data is hosted securely and backed up for you.

Can more than one person work on the same client?

Yes. Staff accounts have roles that control what they can see and do, and every change is written to an audit log, so partners can review who did what and when.

How do I get access?

PracticeBooks is offered to accounting practices and their clients. Email [email protected] to arrange a demo or set up your practice. Existing users can sign in here.
